Asta Lynge works associatively across materials and processes. She is interested in the notion of progress and its inherent affiliation with technology.
Asta Lynge (DK, 1988) holds a BFA from Central Saints Martins (2012) and was part of the first iteration of the CSM Associate Studio Programme (2013 – 16). She has recently been showing works at dépendance (Brussels), BIZARRO (Copenhagen), Kunsthaus Glarus (Glarus), Cucina (Copenhagen), Celin (Oslo), Susanne Ottesen (Copenhagen), Le Bourgeois (London) and Lagune Ouest (Copenhagen).
At the end of August, Danish artists Asta Lynge and Jakob Ohrt participated in the residency. Their cute son Remi also participated!
They came to Japan to research the cultivation of pearls in Ise Bay. First by staying at Lake Saiko, they were acclimatising to the Japanese environment, planning and preparing for the field work. They were working on their laptops having meetings online and doing sound recordings in the surrounding area. They also went to visit nearby contemporary art galleries.
After their stay at SAIKONEON, they travelled to Mie Prefecture to visit pearl farmers and ended their journey in Tokyo.
Asta participated in this stay with support from the Danish Arts Foundation.
